Why would you want to do cardio with bulking? That's kind of like pushing the gas and break pedals at the same time. |

| | | Doing small ammounts of cardio whilst bulking keeps some people feeling fresh and it has also been known to help with adding lean muscle tissue.
I personally would limit it too two but unfortunately with sporting commitments the lowest I get is four. |

its like pushing the gas peddal,
then pushing the brake pedal
then pushing the gas pedal again.
you just have to eat enough to compensate for whatever you burned during cardio.
other than that, just dont force your body to have to adapt to any intense stimulus cardio. keep it fairly simple.
your body has to focus on adapting and growing from weights |

| | I've been thinking about this too. Right now, my main problem are squats. They leave me completely breathless and it takes a long time for me to recover. So I tend to leave them for the end of each training session, which isn't a great idea but a compromise. I'm trying to bulk too, but in this case wouldn't it be a good idea to do cardio so you can do a proper muscle rotation on your 3 days FBW and be able to add weight to the bars? I guess that what I'm trying to say is that my cardiofitness is the thing thats hurting more my training right now. Sorry philsaigon, I'm not trying to hijack your thread with my problems.... |

| | | none, but that's my decition. I don't get people who say you shouldn't do cardio on a bulk. It just depends what you eat. You will have to eat more, since cardio burns cals, but it won't slow your bulk aslong as you cover for it diet wise. And doing cardio keeps the heart healthy, so I don't agree that it's like hitting the gas and the breakes at the same time. |

| | | Nothing wrong with doing cardio at the same time at all, id say its even better as its healthier for you heart & lungs & overall fitness. Im just starting to incorporate cardio into my routine, all im gonna do it have a shake after my cardio for minimum fat loss. |

| This is a good point. People need to be in good enough shape to do the big exercises without getting crushed.
Now, I am not the biggest fan of cardio because it is long and boring and feels like a waste of my time.
I have been using circuits during my warm-up and at the end of my workout to increase my work capacity more.
Part of the cardio question is being honest with yourself about the training stage you are in. If you need to be in better shape, that is goal number 1. After that increasing the amount of heavy exercises can be a good idea.
(I say that but I always have a LOT of exercises that are lighter and just done for increasing work capacity, the value of doing this is very high.)

| | | This is probably a very silly idea but do let me know what are you thoughts regarding this… What about swimming? I used to swim a lot, many years ago (I thing there were still dinosaurs walking the Earth….). What I especially liked to do was swimming underwater for as long as I could hold and at the time that seemed to me as a very good exercise for lung and heart capability…. And I think this doesn’t burn so much muscle or fat as cardio. I mean, I never saw skinny divers or swimmers…. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
