Cardio Help

5'8"
285lbs(down from 305)
Full body weightlifting 3 days a week
Cardio 6 days a week.

I've been trying to do some running lately and I think I am getting what it called "shin plints". The muslces on both sides of my shins start hurting so bad that I can barely walk.

I had been walking 2-3 miles a day at 3-3.5mph and I didn't have that problem. But now, after I jog about a half mile I have to call it quits.

The only cardio equipment I have access are a treadmill, stair stepper, and exercise bike. I tried the bike and stepper and didn't feel like I got much of a workout.

Is walking a couple miles a day enough cardio for losing weight? Are there any other cardio exercises that I can do that won't kill my shins? Would do aerobics be sufficient?

Any advice would be greatly appreciaited.

I suggest going with the stair stepper or bike. These are low impact and are a great workout. Certainly better than just walking. If you dont feel like you are getting a good workout on them, then increase your pace or increase the resistance.

Also, look into HIIT cardio. You can perform these easily on any of the machines you have available. HIIT is very effective on burning fat.

Yup I agree, get into biking like you did running. Shin splints don't go away easily, you really need to stay away from running for a while.
