I eat 500 calories less than maintenance a day.

I'll still continue to lift heavy, but not crazy. I'm starting to do push ups everyday. (Only 1 set) I do as many as i can and that's it. I actually did 5 more today...If I'm sore i obviously won't do the push ups. I don't think this would be over training and I'm still doing my normal routine with a deficit...

Sound good?

Oldspice,

To kind of get away from all the issues if trying to figure out your program perhaps you should look at CrossFit. The workouts are already written, so you do not have to think much about it. You have 6.5 months, get to training hard and don't over think things.

All branches of the military are moving toward the CrossFit model of training since it is pretty specific to the conditioning needed and can be implemented anywhere in the world without needing large amounts of equipment. You will get in amazing shape and have decent strength levels with this training.

If there is already a good program going for the kind of shape you need to be in, use that, and make your adjustments as you learn more about it.

My 3 cents.

I do bench 3 times a week on M W F and all iv seen is just pure good results. I guess its different for everybody
Same with me when i started, and i had great results. I didnt go overeboard, i just increased my weight every workout till the gains ended.

Personally, i do not like doing bench press. I never feel it in my chest and it's awkward for me.
I know some people do bench and there chest never hurts, usually that is because people push the weight up with ttheir arms and shoulders before wearing out the chest. I was the same way. One thing that worked for me was i took about three weeks and began my chest workout with 4 sets of flys. This helped me feel my chest when i went to benching. It helped me learn how to push the weight with my chest as opposed to my arms and delts. I hope it makes sence and i hope it can help.

No bodybuilding splits please. You need to be able to use your body as a whole, not lay down and bench.

Crossfit is a good start.
