deadlift neck pain

On my first 2 lifts of my deadlift set I had this kind of throbbing pain in the back of my neck (left side btwn base of neck and shoulders), I stopped, then re-started the set and it went away. Can still feel it slightly now. Normal?

not normal. You may have been using improper form. Keep that neck straight. dont jerk it.

Sounds like you may have pulled something, possibly your trap. I'd ice it and take a few days off from any upper body movements. I've learned the hard way better to optionally take a few days off than be forced to take weeks/months off

Did you turn your neck at all during the lift?
I've pulled a muscle in my neck before as I turned my head to check my form in the mirror
