Do T-Bar rows help with pullups?

i currently started doing free weight t-bar pullups instead of the machine. the handle i put under the barbell to pull up with, only has handles that run perpindular to the barbell, and not parallel like most. is this ok?

oh and, will t-bar rows help me be able to do more pullups?
and does barbell row do this also, should i do both tbar and barbell rows?

Some might say that vertical and horizontal pulling aren't complimentary, but I think they are. Anyway you make your lats stronger will help you pull in either plane.

So that answers your first question as well. Any type of pull-up or chin-up is good. Since you got off the machine and are doing freeweight, any grip is superior to what you were doing.
