Ear pressure issues when exercising

Hi, today something weird happened to me, I had just finished a rather hardcore multiple set of airsquats that bring my heart rate to 170, when I decided to cool down for 2 minutes and then do some light calf raises (ie, bodyweight, on stairs).

Well the weird thing is, after the squats I felt I couldn't hear very well , as if the sound was distant, and even after being almost fully rested I felt as if I had water in my left ear for a while. It wasn't painful or anything, just very weird.

Is there a reason for something like this?

Blood to your brain. Probably from the stair walk. Usually if you're already all sweaty and stuff, running up the stairs can do a blood rush which usually has that "water in the head" feeling.

That or you were holding your breath so hard you altered the pressure inside your ears. I say that because generally you hold your breath longer on squats to stabilize the torso, exhaling after the concentric portion of the exercise, instead of during.

teh inner ear's pressure is balanced via the (gonna butcher the spellign here) eustacian tube, which connects to your nasal passage.

I find after a long hard run my ears become very sensitive to pressure and even a slight sniffle will cause them to *plug* or whatever and yawning pops them again. The blood in head thing sounds about right, or just increased blood pressure or something

yeah it's definately the pressure from holding your breath. I had the same problem and hated it. just be sure your breathing and you'll be alright.
