Damn, I've been going 2-3 months before taking a few days or maybe a week off. It's only been a few weeks now since my last break, but I'm already getting that familiar fatigued feeling and tight muscles that tells me it's time.
Has that ever happened to you? I don't think I'm getting sick. I've been eating a surplus lately for the first time in a long time and made some really good gains...maybe the extra intensity in the gym is catching up with me
I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow since I traveled over the weekend. If I'm still tired I might just run with no lifting for a few days or even all week
Well, my body finally convinced me to take a week off.
I've been dealing with tight traps/stiff neck for over a week; yesterday I developed a cramp/pulled muscle in the bottom of my foot; then today on my first rep of squats, my entire upper back seized up and spasmed.
My last time off was just over a month ago, but it wasn't a good, restful time off. I was sick as a dog and it took me a good 2 weks just to get back to where I was.
It seems our bodies work in very similar ways, well I probably weigh a lot less and have a lot less muscle (you'd hope ) whenever I designate myself a few days off training I manage to get sick and I take it as it's the time my mind will let my body get sick and then I have to rest completely!
Yeah it does sound like you are over training a bit. You should take your heart rate when you wake up still lying down and everything and see if there is much variance from morning to morning. Large variances can be one measure of training too hard or too much.
I have found when I get like this a real hot bath with a bag of epsom salts in it helps me out then a couple of days off and back into it.
That is not good if you work out hard or kinda ok if you workout at a minimal intensity
but that is just my opinion
He has a good trainer. Also you can traing everyday if you make sure that your nutrition and recover techniques are good. Some people can tolerate that level of exercise with no problems.
In regard to taking days off I lift 4 days a week and cardio 6 days a week but Im at least doin one or the other everyday without taking a break. I think the last time I took a day off was christmas. Are you suppose to take a day off every week? Sometimes I feel pretty tired but once I get started into the workout I always feel better.
I haven't taken a day off since I re-started working out in May 2007.
I've gone through 6 month stretches without missing a single training day. I just go in phases. I think a lot of it has to do with my terrible sinus problems. When they act up they zap my energy
