help me with a full body workout routine

hello, new to the forum but been reading as much as possible through the threads. i have decided that i want to go with a full body workout routine but i have yet to get the details down. seems like most people reccommend mostly compound excersizes with a couple isolated exercises. i am currently 5'8", 140, decent shape.

i have decided to:

do a 3 day week, mon, wed, fri with about 45 minute to an hour work out and then 30 min light cardio and i will probably alternate an "A" and "B" workout.

my main goal is to be slim and ripped, NOT bigger

also i would like to avoid the "gain" then "cut" phases if possible, i would like to stay the same consistantly so i dont go through periods of looking bloated (which im kind of in right now)

knowing this, how many compound exercises should i do per work out and how many isolated?

also which would be best for getting cut? are squats, benchpress, deadlifts just to get big? or will they work for definition?

also, just any critism or advice overall is welcome, thanks....

Steve

Hey there and welcome to the forum. To start off, a full body workout 3 times a week is a great idea and will be very effective hopefully.

I'm kind of confused by this. Your goal is to get "cut and ripped, NOT bigger" but at the same time you want to avoid the "gain" and "cut" phase. If you want to get "cut" then you must do some "cutting."

Well you should get atleast one compound exercise for each of the major muscle groups. And if you have time, throw in some isolation but its not necessary but could be beneficial.

If you search around a bit, i'm sure you will gain alot more knowledge. I'm a beginner at this but trying to help out. Goodluck with your workout and hope it all works out.

The only way to be more defined without gaining any muscle is just to have a very low BF%. A good example of someone who is very defined but has a low BF is Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

How about Troy instead when he actually has some muscle on his frame?

Bodyfat has primarily to do with what you eat.

You might google Bill Starrs 5X5 for a fullbody workout 3X weekly.
