How long should I ache for?

-Had my first big gym session Saturday morning, worked out my legs a lot. Im used to doing dumbell lunges and squats at home however.
-Rested Sunday
-I intend to rest today, which is good because my legs still ache a bit, and I cant imagine working out again today!

Have I overworked this time? I didn't feel like I was pushing that hard, and was consious not to cause injury etc, expecially as it was my first major session.
The aches arnt that bad - werent bad yesterday either, just lasting for quite a long time IMO.

if its the first time you have worked out in a while - "your first big gym session" - that will makje a big differece.

I remeber when i took a year off from weight training, although I was an experienced lifter before, that long break makes all the difference. My first session back made me ache an incredible amount for about 4 days, but then that ache got beter with each folowing workout.

Legs do tend to ache longer than other muscles (tey are very big muscles). My hamstrings tend to ache for 3 solid days after my leg workout.
