Not bad. However, I'd tweak it a little by doing Day 1- Squat, Bench, Military Press and Day 2- Deadlift, Row, Pullup. To me, thats more of a balanced routine, but that might just be me.

Well if your a beginner and dont have much of a gym background, doing these advanced exercises will not be good for you.

Start out with full body workouts. 1 exercise per muscle group, its great for beginners. Also be sure to get 1 days rest between workouts, you would never do squats day after day.

Be more specific and let me know if i can help more.

I disagree. Those are basic exercises. Which of those exercises will not be good?

well it really depends on how new you are to the gym, and history of exercise. But if your trying to tell me squatting and bench pressing are easy exercises then think again.

Starting out you will need to stick to machine based exercises and get the feel of lifting before you hop on a bench press and start pumping. So can you do pushups or try a machine bench press, slowly get stronger and then move on to a bench press.

Now with squatting , you dont want to hop straight into squatting , you need to ensure u have a strong core otherwise your not going to squat much at all.

Anyway what im trying to say is, if you want an injury sure hop into squats and the big old bench press, but if your smart you will progress into them and use these exercises down the track.

Machines will force your body to preform in an unnatural range of motion and it won't make you "ready" for free weight exercises. Doing squats with a weak core won't get you injured as long as you keep good form. Sure you won't lift as much, but as you get stronger so will your core.
The best is to start with low weight and make sure you have good form on the exercises.

Try to take a video of your lifts and post here and we can let you know if your technique is OK or not, check out the technique article sticky, there are a lot of videos and articles there that should help.

I do:
Day 1
Squat
Bench
Row

Day 2
Deadlift
Pull up
Military Press

That way, you're basically working every muscle group each time you lift (and not doubling up on anything in one session)

..and yes, these are among the most basic and fundamentally sound lifts you can possibly do. Use proper form and the appropriate weight for your strength and fitness level and you'll be good.

It's not just a beginner routine. If you keep progressing and challenging yourself with more weight this is a great routine for anyone. By keeping my volume down I find I can really give every set and every rep my all

if your a beginner I would say start lifting 3/4 times a week not everyday so maybe do your routine mon tues, then thurs fri or something like that. I would also say make sure you have a proper diet so you will get good results

Yeah, not every day. I've been lifting for years and I do 3 days, usually Mon, Wed Thurs alternating Days 121 212 121 etc. then cardio 3 days, one day of rest

One area where I'll agree with Leeroy is that pushups are great if they supply enough resistance for your current strength level

they are not thats why doing them first is important, machines wont make your squat or bench easier

squating builds your core.

so basicly disregard what every top trainer recomends, you need to brush up your reading before you give advice to newbies
