late night munch

Hi

Do you think its ok to eat one of my meals After
my workout because i dont finish training until 9.00pm (work,Kids Etc)
and generally i go to bed within a hour or so.
Or should i try a protein shake of some sort (any Ideas )

I know you should eat within a short while after training
but also you shouldn't eat before bed ??

I cant train any other time

you will find can find oposing opinions on this one... one thing I learned in my eating/timing research,,, is "chew properly" very important... then your stomach is not full of chunks of food to grind and work on. I am going to leave the caloric timing to the better educated.

I usually work out in the evening and don't get my last "meal" in until 8:30 or 9:00 PM. I try to keep it mostly proteins (tuna and non-fat cottage cheese) and that curbs my hunger.

My 2 cents--

Your body's needs for nutrients post workout are very, very important. Forget about what time it is, you need simple carbs and protein immediately after a workout, and really you should get another meal in an hour or so after that.

I do dextrose and whey shake after a workout, and lemme tell ya, heavy weights make me hungry. An hour after having that shake, I need more food. This time though, I eat a slower digesting carb with a protein. Some chicken and brown rice is good. You will hear a lot of people say to ease up the carbs as the day goes on, but if you are working out late, you need to get them in.
