    lifting how should i

    sup
Alright now there's probably a topic started on this. So here it is now i bought a golds gym about two years ago and started lifting. now i went with so friends to a local gym and i seen different people bench pressing differently? now i start out like this bench press 190 for my first rep and then for the rest of my reps i work out with 195. But i see people starting out like this 185 1rep, 190 2rep, 195 3rep, 200 4rep and 205 5rep and they work up to what they are benching, now is this method any different from what i do? Is it better?
    thanks for the help

Do not try to design your own workout.

Take $25 and pick up "New Rules of Lifting" and be golden.

nothing is 'better' than anything else really.

if you stay on 5x5 for forever, you'll stagnate
if you do 1RM only, you'll stagnate
if you always do 3x10, you'll stagnate

the best routine/rep scheme is the one that changes every so often to keep you growing.

ye it is just th epyramid up and down scheme, Some people start off at their max and work down where as other start off with their lightest and work up to the max weight.
As far as I am aware the starting off with your max is slightly more effective however as malkore said it is generally best to alternate every so often
