Would be a good idea except bananas arnt fast acting carbs, they have rather a Low Gi.

Maybe try having a big carb dinner the night before like pasta ,that would help. Otherwise down some food that have high Gi scores.

sorry there not.

Heres just a point i copied from a federal funded diabtes site:

"To treat a mild or moderate hypo give some fast—acting carbohydrate (sugary food) such as fruit juice 125—200 ml, ordinary soft drink or cordial 125—200 ml, glucose tablets 10—15 g, sugar or honey (two to three teaspoons), four large or seven small jelly beans followed by a serve or exchange of slow—acting carbohydrate such as bread, milk, biscuits, apple, banana"

you just need to eat something beforehand. I either have a mass gain shake, or 2 bowls of cereal and some water 1 hour before workouts and thats ok for me, although i do get tired towards the end.

Id like to try an energy supplement but they work out so expensive to have every day.

when I workout in the early morning I drink a 8oz. glass of apple juice before I start my workout, it seems to give me a spike in energy long enough for an hour workout, then drink a protein shake immediately after.

Yeah i only sort of found out about that kind of stuff last year.

A big mistake people make is assume complex carbs are slow acting and vise versa. But this isnt actually true its obsolete in the scientific world. Thats why GIs are made now so we have a better idea.

So generally most fruits are actually slow acting.

Shower comes after working out. Why shower before the workout if you are going to sweat? If you sweat a lot, then shower is good after. If you don't, showering before is okay. Too much sweat can make you smelly. As long as you don't smell after you workout, thats the main thing.

I'm sorry but i still have a hard time believing this. I'm not saying you're wrong and i'm right but i've always been told (including in nutrition class) that bananas are fast acting wholesome carbs.

xswtsalvationx0 - Dude, i have to shower first thing in the morning. If i was to do a workout before the day started i'd probably wake up, have something quick and simple to eat (just enough to get through the workout), shower, workout, have a good meal, shower...Start the day. I just feel fresh after having one and it might sound silly but i'd probably have a more productive workout as well.

Well they are simple carbs, so mistakes wil be made. Why dont you get in contact with an up todate nutrionists and ask them.

Or if not, try finding the answer in google. I mean its quite simple, why would they be fast, just because they are simple carbs? Potatoes are complex but those carbs are fast acting. See the fallacy with the simple/complex carb system.

matt is actually correct on this. Current research from Harvard (and MANY nutritional journals) have categorized bananas as Low on the GI index, and is considered slow-acting
