Need Assistance

Hey All,

So here is the deal... after I think about it I have been working out on the bowflex for probably around 2 months, to 2 1/2 months pretty much every day (with a few exceptions).

I am doing a routine consisting of (not sure if these are correct names or now); bench press, arm curl, arm extension, ab crunch, leg press, leg lift and a shoulder press type thing, and that's about it.

The first while that I did this, it was easy.. of course, my arms and legs were shaking a little, just because I wasn't used to it or something.. but that soon subsided and became a pretty much straight forward smooth pattern.

The problem now is, that after about 2 1/2 months of doing this, it really feels like my body, and health are deteriating.. it really seems like something isn't right with my body.

Instead of getting the feeling of "I can feel the strength and stamina growing, and it getting easier to do the routine", it is becoming increasingly harder to do the routine.

Also, at first my pulse rate wasn't increasing a whole lot, but now it is... (maybe not a really big change, but atleast a little).

Of course, I can't really tell a difference in how I look.. but everyone I see says they can tell a difference in me being more toned and all (but yeah, I can't see it -- maybe that's just normal too?).

But my main worry is just the simple fact that my body isn't getting healthier... and is instead getting into worse shape... I mean, this can't be normal or healthy is it? It almost makes me feel like "wow, I have some disease that makes it so I cant really build muscle or something", I don't know.

But, as for me... I'm 20, I weight around 260 lbs, and am about 6'4" or so.

So does all of this sound normal, and something that will go away at around like, the fourth month... or does it sound like I'm screwed and should do something else (like... see a doctor, or build a casket)?

More than likely, you are overtraining.

Start by taking 3 or 4 days off to let your body recoup some.

When you start back up, try taking a rest day every other day between your workouts and see if that helps.

Ahh, okay... well I guess that makes sense... especially maybe why I am tired all of the time and have a headache a lot.

I will try that and let you all know.

Thanks

yea, i agree. sounds like overtraining ... this could also explain the headaches. if you aren't resting properly, your muscles will get tight and "pull" on your neck, creating headaches.

take a look around the forum for routines that fit you, but you should break up your workout to specific body parts so that you can work out the next day on something else, giving the other ones a bit of a rest.

the max you should be working out is 6 days, but that is for people that isolate body parts. otherwise, 3-4 if you are doing full body each time.

They are dead on! You are killing your body doing that every day... I would cut back to 3 times a week and concentrate the off days to resting and learning how to eat properly!

Eating is the real key to getting ripped up.

over training is true. But you also said your doing the same routine for 2.5 months which is rediculous. Change it up and you will feel it more. Also rest up a little. No weekend lifting as well.
