| | | New to working out Hello, I am new here and also new to really working out. I used the gym a few times when I was in college but now I am out and want to get in shape. I have been using a treadmill, a Weider pro home gym, and some free weight barbells. The home gym has leg press, leg curl, arm press, lat pul down, and the curling. I guess I really am just lost as to where to start. I know I should rest muscles a day but there are so many arm workouts it seems too much to do in one day. Should I do different arm things different days? Like I said I am lost and any advice for a good routine to get into would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

| | | There's plenty of stickies around with a load of information in.
Basics for getting started...
1 - What are you goals?
2 - Diet, it's everything. No point working out if your powered by mars bars.
3 - Learn the lifts. Correct form and knowing how to lift will keep you away from injury.
Have a look around and then come back with questions. But remember, everyone is different, no one thing works exactly the same for two people. |

Thanks in advance. | Don't worry so much about working your arms. Your arms are only 10% of your body anyway.
You should add a Squat Rack to that Home Gym.
Read the stickies too. |

| | | Even though there may be so many arm exercises for you to do, just pick 1 or 2 and give it your all and that will work your arms good enough. You can change up the arm exercises each day so that you don't always have the same routine. And i agree with jmanjman47: arms are only a small portion of the muscle on your body. Work more on the larger muscle groups. |

| | | Also, most upper body exercises will work the arms anyway if your not directly doing it. |

| | well first of all my goals are just to get in shape and tone up some muscle, not looking to be a body builder. And my diet is fairly consistent since I got out of school. I eat a light breakfast (cereal usually), light lunch, and then dinner. I don't snack nearly like I did in college now that I eat on a fairly set schedule and not in between classes when I had time. I don't eat perfectly healthy but I'm also not fueled by chocolate cake.
I would definitely love to have a squat rack but I don't think they made one for this home gym and even if they did my parents bought this thing many years ago. I think its a Weider Pro 9628.
It sounds like a good idea to mix up the arm exercises and not concentrate too much on them but what else should I do? The only leg work is the leg press and leg curl.
I'm going to read stickies now Thanks for the replies. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
