Good Morning All! I am new to this site and would like to say Thank you for viewing this Post. I have done some light training in the past, but nothing real serious. I am 22 years old, 6' 205 lbs. I have a couple questions and i'm hoping some of you can help me. My ultimate goal is to Dunk a basketball, I don't know how many times I have heard people tell me that it can't be done, which i feel is BS. I just don't know exactly what it takes. I can EASILY grab the rim, and slam something as small as a Tennis Ball. I am able to palm a regulation basketball without a problem either, so I have that going for me. Does anyone have some advice on what type of exercises I should be doing? possibly some cardio exercises? I'm guessing if i lose a little weight along with getting some muscle i should be able to accomplish this feat? I have a membership at a gym near my house so the weights aren't a problem. Also my 2nd question, I would PREFER to workout as early as 5 am, is this a bad thing? The gym is always very crowded in the evenings so it's hard to get to certain machines. If anyone has some advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
Freeweight full squats should help. But you need to learn jumping technique also. MOst people fail to realize the descend proir to your jump is very important because its generates momentum.
Working out early is great for your legs. Cos after you workout your legs need to heal, and its blood that heals them. So if your gonna be walking about for 12hrs after your workout you'll ache less the next day.
I'd also say that you should strech every day for 10-15mins, ask some one at the gym.
make sure you work the rest of your body to.
Dont worry about dieting, as long as your getting all the good stuff you need, cos the more muscke you hae the faster ur metabolism will get. So If you wanna loose weight, its easyer after a few months of weight training.
And always make sure you do you cardio work after your weights, or your wont have the energy to lift heavy and may pass out.
