starter kit?

Buy York Bench and Weights Package. at Argos.co.uk

I've been losing weight and been on a better diet for the past 3 months (I think its been that long anyway). But anyway, after reading on this forum quite a lot I figured I need to start doing weights.

I still have a bit of a belly, but thanks to Chillen he has told me that I need to put on some "lean muscle mass" I sort of have a clue of what he means, but I figure that after running almost every day for the past 2 months my progress has been slowing and I need to start gaining a bit of muscle.

Can you tell me if those weights are good for starting? I also have dumbells, but I figure if I have a barbell and weights thats all I need for now.

Also, can you give me a good website that shows me what excercises I can do with barbells and dumbells?

Thanks

the bench is acceptable.
the weights look cheap(in the bad way) and only 50kg.
you will need more than that for barbell training.

order of importance imo: sturdy barbell with weights, squat rack, chinup bar, bench, dumbells, dip stand

I see.

Well its kind of annoying because that seems like the heaviest on that website. I have no idea where to go to buy weights in the UK. That seemed like probably the best store, but hrmmh.

i guess a website isnt the best option, i mean, the postage and packaging on weights is too high to give a good profit margin, so online stores wouldn't be offering too large weights!!!

Why not try a general fitness store. In Kingston (UK) there are a couple, and i'm sure most large cities would have a similar store. You can just get weights to add onto the barbell, so no need to buy a specific amount. And they would be able to give you advice and all that to kit you out!

Dont forget I said I'm a beginner at weights, so couldnt I just buy that bench and those weights to start off with, then as I improve buy more weight discs for the barbell?
Its just, I dont wanna be spending a bomb on a super-expert kit that I wont get the full use out of. I was told on this forum a few months ago that barbells and weights would be more than enough for now.

After a few months I probably will join a gym, maybe

Thanks for the replys so far guys
