Probably a dumb question but...

Is there a point on doing ab work if your in a weight loss mode and still have a significant amount of weight to lose? I pretty much dont bother with doing ab specific exercises and have focused on compound lifts and cardio. Am I holding myself back by doing this or no? I know that I wouldnt be able to see the results of any ab work until I lose the belly fat I currently have, just curious if I should be hitting my abs regardless.

why not keep some

5-15 minutes, a bit more sweat, a touch more heart rate, and a tinch more work is a Good Thing!

most compounds take care of the abs good enough, and they should show through after the weight goes down, but if you maybe want your abs stronger or bigger then do some direct ab work.

Start the abs now, so as you lose the weight you don't lose any muscle in that area.

That's good you're focusing less on ab exercises and more on strength training and cardio. You're ahead of the curve than most people.

But, don't completely abandon ab exercises.

Keep doing what you're doing though. You're on the right track!

Good luck.
