Ok i really just don't like the taste of my protein shake in water, so i'm asking about having it in milk after my workout. Since the powder is whey, and the milk is casein, (spelling?) would it still take a long time to process, therefore not work at it's highest potential? Also, it's good to take the multi-vitamin after your workout too, right?
biggie, not only is that ok its probably better than whey alone
since the dawn of time, guys got huge on milk &/or milk protein hydrolysate way before they isolated the whey protein fraction & marketed it based on BV. well, sometimes a little thing called nitrogen retention is overlooked. so, what dr robert demling & dr leslie desante decided to do was compare the effect of whey vs casein in healthy resistance-training subjects to see whether casein would beat whey yet again in a context other than burn victim tissue recovery. result? double the strength, LBM gain, & fat loss in the casein group. why oh why do people stay clinging to bodybuilding marketing? you can wait for mainstream acceptance, but companies like metrx, VPX, & Beverlly have already made their flagship protein supps casein-dominant. mainstream enough?
what ppl who are not trying to push supplements on us are saying is that if you have your pre workout nutrition done and then lift, after a workout you wont need nutrients "right away" and you'll still be absorbing them from your pre workout shake or meal.
alan aragon and craig ballytyne are providing good evidence for this.
i've read the full text research, & not only has casein beat whey for the recovery of trauma patients, it has also beaten whey in healthy subjects as well. this is because whey & casein are very close in their anabolic properties, but casein has the added advantage of being multiple times more anticatabolic. so much for the advantage of a quicker protein. on paper it sounds good, but when put to the test on real people in research, the turtle beat the rabbit
So is it not a good idea to add my protein powder to milk if i'm going to use it for a post workout shake? Cuz apparently the casein slows down the absorption of the whey, so does that mean i have to take it in water after my workout for best results?
To be honest with you, i have no idea. As far as im concerned there its once again alot of controversy around this subject so i wish not to dive in to it as i dont want to know about it hehe.
I use whole eggs and only have ever seen beneficial results.
4 x-large whole eggs with 400ml of light milk plus 3 servings of milkshake powder (i use a brand called "Milo" which gives me 3.3g of protein per serv) gives me a total of 53.3g of protein per shake and funnily enough they taste bloody good! even my misses is in on them and she only drinks it because they taste nice. If i told her the eggs where in it, she would kill me
I wont ever touch protein powders again and havent done so for atleast 12 months now, only because they taste horrid, no matter how good they claim it is.
NICE PROTEIN RATIO!!! im definently trying that recipe...thanks a lot. I dont really care if they taste good as long as it is good for you. do you have to drink all of it to get 53.3 g protein??? does anyone know if it is ok to mix whey protein in this??? by the way i do know what milo is; it is good and i think it originated in south america...thanks

Thats the thing with all this sup' hype. It works for some and not for others, this goes all for sup's. Give it a try and after 4 weeks you dont see anything that you like, scrap it!.
Taste is everything to me, but everyone is different but one thing is for sure, its a stack nicer and cheaper to
Yes, you would have to consume all of it to get 53.3.g. You can do your own calcuations by obtaining the product information off the package of eggs, milk and milo and do some simple calcs.
Good to see you know of Milo. its the best powder ever invented haha
