Figured this would get more attention here and the sooner I can get advice the better. During hell week in football, I pulled both my quads pretty badly, left a bit more than the right though. I've been doing stretches and walking etc. during practice - ice and heat after. Thing is, I really need to get better fast or my position will be on bench for the year... I know it takes time, but I just wanted to see what advice I can get on it.
Well, are you sure you pulled your quad? As to my understanding quads aren't frequently pulled as they are such a large muscle.
If you are injured, all I can say is when you continue to aggravate the injury, it will continue to be injured, or get worse. I'd say go to a doctor if you think you're injured.
go see a sports doctor now. I never studied kinesology, but it seems like with the Quadriceps being a muscle that PUSHES, it would be difficult to Pull/hyperextend the muscle at all...without some serious damage.
the other question you have to ask yourself is: is high school football really more important than having a leg that works 100% for the rest of your life?
take it from someone that jacked up their knee pretty thoroughly....no, its not worth it. HEAL first, then worry about football.
