Several Questions:

Several questions:

1)My girlfriend decided to move back to coburg for the summer, and so far it has wreaked havoc on working out. I'm there from thursday-sunday night most weeks. I've stopped lifting weights since she left and in all honesty can say until she gets back doing so is a thousand times more effort than normal. There is only a month and a half left of summer. She moves back on the last week of august, so, would it be a waste of time to run the four nights I know im going to be home? And maybe a night or two I'm out of town at her moms? And forget about weights till she moves back? Thing is even if i can manage to do it, it would most likely be so sporadic (sp?) that it might be pointless. (aka one day a week, if that).

2)Should I take a protein shake after a run?

3)My mom is fairly overweight and has HORRIBLE knees. Im talking dual knee replacment. She walks (haha, walks is a joke, hobbles is more like it...) with a cane. Problem is doctor said she has to lose some weight before he agrees to operate on her knees. Now to me this seems a very catch 22 situation. If she cant walk/run/swim (yes doctor said NO swimming either) how is she supposed to lose weight? I just dont get it. And she cant try dieting in any maner because as it is she hardly eats (calorie intake is all over the place, up and down, left and right) maybe taking in 750-1200 a day? But IS fairly overweight. (could probably lose 60 pounds). I just wanted some advice to pass along to her because her knees are impacting her quailty of life QUITE alot, and she is quite depressed in general. I was thinming about people with no legs, or with limited mobility in general. If they had to lose weigh how would THEY go about it? tHelp me help my mom!

Thank you so much for your time guys!

I'd say a protiene shake is always a good thing aslong as your not haveing like 5 a day =P. I don't see why you shouldn't have a protiene shake after a run I mean w/e fruit your throwing into it will give you that nice carbohidrate boost full of that nice energy everyone speaks of . The protiene i'm guessing can only help build the muscle in your legs. And as for your gf moving away for a month and half. I can understand how it would effect you with lifting weights and such but just ask yourself what your looking for. If its to keep the muscle you currently have on your body thein yes continue to lift thoughs weights. If you don't mind looseing some muscle mass in that time she is gone thein go for thoughs runs instead because they help everything from your lungs to your heart along with health in general not to mention toneing and staying in shape. Even if you just had like some dumb bells at your house you could just fool around with theim at home aside from runs and i'm sure you'd benefit from it. With my experiance (and I don't have to much), leaveing your weight lifting routine all together and comeing back to it within a month and a half wouldn't be NEARLYYYYY as bad as someone who just started there workout routine from scratch as in ... no past weight lifting experiance within past months before that. If you quit and restarted your whole weight lifting routine after your gf got back you'd find your muscle comes back a hell of alot faster thien someone whos just starting out. I wouldn't worry to to much about takeing a break from it and running but I guess thats my opinion and in the end i'd say it really depends on what your looking for and if you'd mind looseing a fair portion of what you've gained muscle whise in the gym so far, keeping in mind it wouldn't be so hard getting it back; aslong as you get back into that gym after the gf gets back.

Hope this helped o.0 I'm real tired so if i repeted some of what I said in my post its only because I probably forgot what I was talking about, lol
