| | | Should I still lift if... I have a FREAK Rash? By this I mean I somehow got an allergic reaction that resulted in hives on 80% of my body. I was wondering if I could lift while I had this rash. It is somewhat... UNBEARABLY ITCHY but It's like that no matter what I do.
I finally got it to go away once I got to the hospital and they hooked me up with 50mLs of Zantac with some saline, but that effect lasted 5 hours and the pills dont' work that great. If the rash comes back, should I not lift? |

But if you really want to and feel up to it, I guess you can try it. But I don't know how the others' would enjoy your **** all over the equipment. |

| | If you are Ill I would refrain from things like weight lifting. You will be putting the body under a lot of stress (If you are lifting enough ) - lol.
It can just make it worse. Try and keep up with your diet though, when you are ill it can be tempting to eat what you want, but just try and stick to it and avoid the gym whilst you get better. You won't lose any gains if you are good with your diet by missing a few days in the gym.
I have to miss 2 days today and tomorrow due to work commitments Unless I want to workout after 13 hours at work, including 2 hours travelling there, and 2 hours back (Work were too cheap to put me in a hotel for the night so I have to go there and back for 2 days, and each day is 2 hours travel EACH WAY) |

Luckily I will be under the shelter of my parents for a couple more years and the only employment I'll enjoy is minimum wage.
Thanks for the advice guys. No ****, though, so that isn't a problem. Actually I just went to lift today, and it was either the drugs kicked in at the right moment, or sometihng else but all my little rashes went away after i pumped out a NROL workout. (Hypertrophy I). |

| | | You had an allergic reaction to something. Believe it or not, lifting will help get it out your system. If you have a cold, or a hang over, lifting will actually sweat it out your system to some degree..........No science on that one, just a home remedy suggestion. |

Whether or not it is true it seems to have worked for me whenever I'm sick or something like that. |

| | | Don't lift if you have a cold, intense exercise will temporarily lower your immune system slowing your recovery.
I don't know about lifting with an allergic reaction but I'd recommend against ever lifting if you're not feeling well |

| | | My experience correlates with CCR's advice. Since lifting regularly, I've been sick more times in two years than I have in any previous three.
However, I've found that low intensity exercise like distance running or swimming kicks the **** out of a cold and has seemingly immunity-boosting properties. When doing distance stuff, I would get sick maybe 2-3 times a year. Just as a reference, I've been sick maybe 6 times or more in 2007 alone. |

Do you work with small children or something? I haven't had any kind of illness for over 18 months now.
Distance running is also ill advised for those with colds as it still places the body under great strain, you'll feel better in the short term as your body will clear nasal passages to allow you to get the required oxygen into your system and you'll feel full of energy again but while that's happening you're not fighting the cold and it'll return soon after your body's recovered from the exercise stronger than before
A light jog should be OK though

| | | if you have flu type symptoms ie feverish etc dont train,as the above posters have pointed out, your heartrate will be elevated fighting off the fever so intense training will raise it even further. |

| | | Yep, I sure do, CCR. Not only do I work in close proximity of kids, when they come up from under the water, they spit right in my face.
I think it was also because in the first half of 07, I was keeping my CNS weak with max efforts pretty much everyday. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
