I started it on 12/31/07 and completed Day 5 today. I find it to be a great addition to my usual workouts - I still go to the gym, I still lift weights, I still do cardio...but it definitely has a place in my workout routine. P90X - Forum Powered by eve community
is the main forum location for folks who are addicted to it.

I am lifting heavier than I ever have in my life. In the musculature workouts tony horton, the trainer, tells you to use the correct amount of weight to maintain good form while bringing yourself to the point of failure between 8 - 10 reps for size and between 12 - 15 reps for lean definition.
If you were to dust off your p90x dvds and try the program out as its layed out and bring the intensity to your workouts by lifting heavy I bet you will have a different opinion. |

I lift heavy but when I do Tonys training, i merely maintain muscle not add. Doing 8-10 reps doesnt get me the size, it just keeps them firm. Dont get me wrong, I love P90X but to put on mass I need to go heavy for 4-6 reps. |

After doing a round of it I started to modify based on what I have learned about fitness, and my own body particularly. I started doing the 4 - 6 reps option too. On my power lifting days I will start with higher reps and end on a set of 1 - 3 reps. I do that maybe once a week, if that. |

Just fyi, you becoming "lean" and attain greater "definition" by lower body fat percentage. If you have muscle, it's there. You have to cut fat to see it. It won't magically become flexed up if you do 12-15 reps. Quote:

It won't magically become flexed up if you do 12-15 reps. | Based on my own experiences in working out with so many other p90x people from all walks of life I can say that the ones who have used the lower intensity/higher volume periodization (along with good nutrition) option come out looking lean because fat is being burned and lowering body fat percentage while toning and enhancing muscles simultaneously. For example, I just returned from Las Vegas for a Tony Horton fitness camp. I worked out with Tony as well as 80 something other p90x enthusiasts. Some of them have huge muscles, others have super nice toned bodies without extra added bulk.
