strength training?

hi guy's i got another question what is strength training see i know at my age i can't get all big and i think i'm at the best i can get to at my age. see i started doing push-ups at 11 because i was weaker then a mouse and at 12 i was tronger then most my friends's but my friend chaz and sam are alot stronger and i wanted to try and keep up with them so i heard that there is a way you can train just for strength andmy question is how do i strength train and what are the differnt's beetween strength training and body building please help thanks alot

Its really two different methods of body building as far as my research has taught me. Basically body building makes you do more reps with moderate weights in order for you to build more muscle mass, and thus get an Arnie look.

On the other hand, if you want to gain more strength but not overbulk like body builders, that you would approach this with fewer reps, much heavier weights, and longer rest periods. As far as I understood, strength training helps develop your current muscles into stronger fibers. I could be wrong as I have just started out.

I would recommend talking with your friends on how they reached their current level of fitness.
