| Actually, I'm going to call shinanigans on evan's post. Not out of cruelty, mind you, but his logic is just a little off. Immediately post workout, you need protein, but you also NEED carbs. Post workout is not the time to cut carbs. Your body needs simple carbs and protein, because after a workout, it's running low on both. It needs the carbs to bounce back from it's depleted state. This will help ensure you rebuild the muscle that you just tore up.
But again, you still need to be in a caloric deficit in order to lose weight. So, WHEN (not if) you start ingesting your post-workout shakes, make sure those calories are being compensated for somewhere else in your diet. |
