working out 4 consecutive days for strength

I'm getting into kickboxing and I want to get stronger but not too bulky. I do 10 minutes of running followed by about 45 minutes of full body weight training monday through thursday. Is this an effective way to achieve my goal?

No, not at all. It's fine to do a full body routine, but you have to space it out during the week. Your body needs rest and needs time to recover. If you do it ever other day it would be more effective.

If you do weight training for four days straight though, they should be different exercises and muscle groups.

almost, full body training is ok but i need more info, like what equipment you have and how offen you can train.

a little mass will help. as a martial artist myself I have lots of experiance in sports specific training.

try 20-30mins running, but after your weight training.

you should be doing exercises like this

deadlift, clean and press
dumbell dead lift
squats
chest press
shoulder press
hi and low woodchoppers
chinups
hanging leg raises and hanging twisting leg raises
shrugs

youll quickly burn urself out, overtrain your muscles, and ultimately end up loosing muscle , if you keep that up . If I was you I'd switch up your routine a bit.

so how many times a week do you train, so we know how to split up the workouts?

Mike - If that comment was for my post, please note that I did not sugest doing all those in one workout, I said that they are the type of exercises he should be doing.

I'm definately going to stop working out on sconsecutive days now. I only have access to the gym on weekdays, so I guess I'll have to go Monday Wednsday Friday. I'm pretty new to weight training so I basically stick to these 12 machines in one corner of my gym that work every muscle group, or so I'm told. Also, I'm 6'1" and 165 lbs. Is it possible to maintain that weight and still be strong enough to compete?
