October 16th, 2009: "Thoughts for the day"

“Wisdom is to the soul what health is to the body”

Do not take your youth and health for granted.

It can be taken from you faster than a thief in the night.

The power of love to change bodies is legendary, built into folklore, common sense, and everyday experience. Love moves the flesh, it pushes matter around.... Throughout history, "tender loving care" has uniformly been recognized as a valuable element in healing.

(Larry Dossey)

==========================================================

The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they'll ease
Your will they'll mend
And charge you not a shilling.

(Nursery rhyme quoted by Wayne Fields, What the River Knows, 1990)

==========================================================

Diseases of the soul are more dangerous and more numerous than those of the body.

(Cicero)

=========================================================

Our body is a machine for living. It is organized for that, it is its nature. Let life go on in it unhindered and let it defend itself, it will do more than if you paralyze it by not learning from your shortcomings.

=========================================================

What novel are you writing today?

“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.”

(Buddah......yep he is da man, he, he)
==========================================================

He, who has health, has hope; and he who has hope has everything.

Never lose hope in what you are doing in health and fitness. Keep trying.

Wish all of you the best.

Best wishes

Chillen

October 17th, 2009: "Thoughts for the day"

Besides my Personal Doctor (which is a nutritionist and trainer), whom I never hired out right, but solicited much advice from, I owe a great deal to Lyle McDonald and the time he has taken to write very informative and educational articles. They are all written in a way, that the average joe can understand and learn from.

Today, I have an article written by Lyle McDonald called: "The Energy Balance Equation".

Its a good read.

Topics:

What is the Energy Balance Equation?
A More Detailed Look at the Equation: Energy In
A More Detailed Look at the Equation: Energy Out
A Mid-Article Review

There are three different reasons why the expectations of most people in terms of changes in the energy balance are incorrect and, again, it’s based on their own simplistic understanding of what’s going on. Those three reasons are

1. Water balance
2. Muscle and fat are not identical
3. The fact that the energy balance equation is not static

Let’s look at each.

Water Balance
Muscle and Fat are Not Identical

The Energy Balance Equation Isn’t Static
Summing Up

It is a good read. A lot to learn from.

Enjoy.

Best wishes,

Chillen
