Problem

hi im a very young guy, i play football(real) american football(fake) and basketball.
im just getting to the age where i can finally sign up to a gym as soon as i have my birthday in about a month. my family consists of a bunch of health nuts who use the gym very regularly. I am currently 6 ft 168. i really want to work in the gym and build muscle but i am afraid if i do lower body work i will build slow twitch muscles and lose my speed instead of gaining more. ive already started one of kelly baggetts plyometric routines and there are parts in the article that talk about weightlifting affecting your fasttwitch muscles negativly.

well
if this is true what should i do ?
could i get an entire plyometric routine for weights too or what?

please help

thanks
luc

PS the plyometric routine im doing right now isnt weight related but more things like
squat bounces and stair jumps etc .,....

I think it should be noted that fast twitch muscle fibers are predominantly used during weight lifting - unlike that article claims. Whatever "writeup" that says it "negatively affects" your FTmf is completely wrong. His entire argument is flawed.

Check your form, plyometric training can be very demanding on the body. Improper form is more likely to lead to injuries down the line.

Read the weight lifting stickie then post back more questions if needed.
