Weight Training no Cardio

Hi everyone,

I am a grade 12 student, I am taking a class called In The Human Body, and its all about fitness and healthy eating and how excersice works. Okay so our teacher gave us an assignment, and its to find out on the interent what would happen if we were trying to lose weight but all you did was strength training (weights). What we have to do is describe our age, weight, and height and see what answers we can come up while searcing around. So I thought why not go to a fitness forum and get answers from people who know about excercising. Okay so I thought this was a great oppertunity for me because I am also going to try to lose weight. I know I need to because im not at a healthy weight.

Weight: 166 pounds
Height: 5'2
Age: 18

People might look at that and think im a big bubble, I really dont look bad with clothes on, as weird as that sounds, I know how to hide my trouble spots (tummy of course, and thighs ). People never guess i am as heavy as I am, but I know im not a healthy weight.

My question is if someone is on a healthy diet, and they are looking to lose weight, what happens if all they do is weight training and not alot of cardio, for example the only cardio was gym class. You can take my weight and height to answer.

Well, what would be your "healthy diet". To loose weight you need to eat a calorie deficit, in other words eating less that you normally would by approximately 500 calories a day for a total loss of 1 pound a week.

I would imagine you would loose weight just because of the deficit, but I'm not completely sure.

Calorie cutting is king. You could sit on your couch all day and lose weight if your calories are adjusted accordingly. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is theoretically possible. I have read a few theories on that weight lost this way is very easily gained back.

The best method is in my opinion to eat your maintain. Cal's a day(for low activity) and exercise to tilt the scale in your favor. This avoids the hunger issues and is in my belief the healthiest and best way to do it.

Mhmmm if your trying to get healthy than ill suggest cardio aswell.
