    so the ring flexes? or is this an isometric?
    I watched the animation and couldn't tell for sure.

    guess the question is- do we need a "pilates" ring? I don't know squat about a pilate.

    The ring does have some flex... You could do this as an isometric exercise using something like a soccer or volleyball. So no, you don't really need the ring.
