Anyone else experienced this? Opposite or "runners high?"

Recently I finished a workout at the gym that was very intense. PT really kicked my ass and I really felt good while I was in the gym.

Then...as I was leaving, my mood went right into the toilet and I started to feel very..."emotional."

    I know, I'm a bitch. LOL...

I've experienced "runners high" before from running and lifting/HIIT but this was totally opposite.

Maybe I'm frustrated with working hard but not seeing the results I want? I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this. Kinda freaked me out.

Maybe you were just very tired. Maybe you ran out of glycogen? I've never actually run out of glycogen, but runners usually say it's like hitting a wall.

Most likely the case, blood sugar probably went down due to poor pre/post workout nutrition.

Your brain is fueled by blood sugar. No blood sugar = not a happy brain.

naa.. it's just your man-gina acting up. Okay, I had to stick a bigot comment in there.

Yup, I've had those days before. Somewhat common actully. With every high, there are bounds to be lows. During the workout, your body released a crap ton of endorphines to make you feel good and great. Once that wore out, you hit an emotional low. Try eating some yogurt and other food that help stabilize emotional mood swings. Wait until tomorrow or the next day, you will be SORE... really sore.

I would tend to agree with the glycogen comments. The timing and symptoms are most consistent with hypoglycaemia. Make sure you always have a good storage of glycogen before the workout begins and have a glucose-rich drink quickly after your workout. Make sure you stay hydrated during the workout, and you may benefit from consuming liquid carbs during the workout.
